समाराध्य कालीं प्रधाना बभूवुः ।
अनादिं सुरादिं मखादिं भवदिं
स्वरूपं त्वदीयं न विन्दन्ति देवाः ॥
“Brahmā and the other great Devas, having worshipped Kālī—the very foundation of the three guṇas—attained their exalted positions. She is beginningless, the primordial source of the Devas and of existence itself; even the Gods cannot fathom Her true nature.” (Sanskrit Documents)
Another beautiful verse reveals the blissful and luminous dimension of the Mother:
चिदानन्दकन्दं हसन् मन्दमन्दं
शरच्चन्द्रकोटिप्रभापुञ्जबिम्बम् ।
मुनीनां कवीनां हृदि द्योतयन्तं
स्वरूपं त्वदीयं न विन्दन्ति देवाः ॥
“She is the very essence of Consciousness and Bliss, smiling gently, radiant like the splendour of millions of autumn moons, illuminating the hearts of sages and poets.” (Sanskrit Documents)
And therein lies the beauty of Maa Kālī: the same Mother who appears fierce is also Chidānanda—the embodiment of pure consciousness and bliss. Her terrifying form is not a symbol of cruelty, but of the power that fearlessly removes everything that binds us.
