नन्दगोपगृहे जाता यशोदागर्भसम्भवा ।
तत्र तौ नाशयिष्यामि विन्ध्याचलनिवासिनी ॥
She declares that she will be born in the household of Nanda, from Yashoda, and dwelling in the Vindhya mountains, she will destroy Shumbha and Nishumbha. Thus, this divine manifestation is associated with the sacred name Vindhyavasini.
The Mother is also lovingly remembered through the traditional prayer:
गृहे गृहे निवासिनी
भजामि विन्ध्यवासिनी।
“I worship Vindhyavasini, the Divine Mother who resides in every home.”
